Sagemont Prep’s 8th-grade scientists embarked on the second phase of their immersive Everglades National Park experience, taking their learning into the field alongside National Park rangers. Building on the foundational knowledge gained in the classroom, students ventured into the Everglades to study moisture levels and the critical role of controlled burns in maintaining this unique ecosystem. Through hands-on scientific inquiry, students measured moisture content in soil and vegetation, gaining insight into how fire is used as a tool for ecosystem management. National Park rangers guided them in understanding how prescribed burns help prevent wildfires, promote biodiversity, and sustain the delicate balance of the Everglades. Lion Innovators Take 1st and 2nd Place at VEX IQ Robotics Competition! This weekend, our Sagemont Prep Lion Innovators Robotics Teams once again showcased their talent and determination at the VEX IQ Robotics Competition, securing both 1st and 2nd place. Our 5th-grade team earned 1st place and was awarded the prestigious Teamwork Award for their outstanding collaboration and problem-solving skills. The 4th-grade team took 2nd place and brought home an impressive four awards: the Sportsmanship Award for their respect and teamwork, the Create Award for their innovative robot design, the Robot Skills Award for their exceptional programming and driving, and the highly coveted Excellence Award, recognizing overall achievement in engineering, teamwork, and performance.
